**Please note that a 24-hour cancellation fee applies to appointments cancelled outside 24 hours or are not attended. A Medicare rebate is not available on these cancellation fees. This is to ensure that we have sufficient time to fill the appointment. Psychology is a continuing therapy that requires us to hold appointments to ensure continuity of care. Therefore, filling appointments last minute due to cancellation is generally not possible. A 48-hour courtesy SMS is generally sent out to remind you of your appointment. This information is outlined in your initial consent form and information letter. We appreciate your understanding of our policies and procedures.

Mental Health Care Plan

10 Sessions per

Calendar Year

Rebates may be available under a Mental Health Care Plan for most mental health concerns (not available for provisional psychologists). Please speak with your General Practitioner about your eligibility. If eligible, you or your child will be entitled to a partial rebate for the session cost under Medicare. These can be claimed at the time of your appointment through the Medicare app. Medicare rebates are only available for face-to-face and telehealth psychological services, not reports or letters.

National Disability Insurance Scheme

Children on the Autism Spectrum or a disability may be eligible for funding under the National Disability Insurance Scheme. To claim under the NDIS, the funding can be self-managed or plan-managed through an agency. Please speak with your local NDIS support agency for more information or see the link below to inquire about this process through the National Disability Insurance Agency.

Helping Children with Autism Initiative

(HCWA)

Children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are generally eligible to gain access to the Helping Children with Autism Initiative Medicare items. This includes 4 assessment sessions and 20 treatment sessions that can be used any time before a certain age. Assessment sessions are accessible up until the child's 13th birthday. Treatment sessions are accessible up until the child's 15th birthday. To access these items please speak with your child's paediatrician or psychiatrist.

Rebates

Private Health Insurance

Rebates may be available under your private health insurance for most mental health concerns. Please speak with your fund provider about what you may be entitled to as the number of sessions and level of rebate differs across health insurance agencies and plans. Private health insurance agencies generally do not provide a rebate where a Mental Health Care Plan has been used (i.e., they don't tend to pay for your out-of-pocket expense)

Telehealth

As part of the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, psychological services can now be provided via Telehealth. We are currently providing Telehealth services via Google Meet where requested. Please speak to us if you would prefer to have your session via Telehealth. The cost and Medicare rebate for a Telehealth session is the same as the rebate for a face-to-face session. However, services involving children are often best conducted in a face-to-face format if at all possible.

Medicare Safety Net

The Medicare Safety Net is a Medicare initiative designed to lower the costs of Medicare-related services once your family has met the threshold. When you spend over a certain amount in a calendar year, Medicare will begin to rebate you a higher amount for your medical services you pay for. This helps make medical services including allied health services more affordable. This is refunded at the time of your appointment and is cleared in your account soon after.
